Urgent Message
to Users of
Sony's InfoLithium
Battery Packs
Sony Corporation has recently discovered that 'InfoLithium Battery Packs' (models: NP-F750 and NP-F550) manufactured from March 1999 to June 1999 may be affected by a quality problem. These batteries are mainly purchased as optional accessories for Sony video cameras and Mavica. Sony has discovered that some of these battery packs may overheat while being recharged. This overheating can lead to the melting and deformation of the battery pack. Touching the overheated area of the battery pack could be harmful and should be avoided.
If you own either a NP-F750 or NP-F550 InfoLithium battery (model number written in white on the back of the battery pack), and your battery is engraved with one of the affected lot numbers, please call the Sony Hotline on 0800-169-5263 for UK and 1850-775-775 for Eire (Mon-Fri 9.00am to 5.00pm). The Sony staff on the line will advise you on the procedure to obtain a free of charge replacement battery.
Please check the third and fourth digits of the five-digit lot numbers on the battery pack. If they read as indicated below, please contact the Sony Hotline:
