Mike is an experienced Senior forensic investigator (CSI) with Jenson Hughes undertaking fire investigation and forensic engineering investigations for the insurance industry and Law enforcement. Mike has investigated over 1000 crime scenes and forensic incidents in a career spanning over 30 years, working in the UK, and internationally.
Employed by three UK police forces, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), the Special Anti-Crime unit of Trinidad and Tobago (SAUTT), the United Nations, The Forensic Science Service, Halliwell and EFI Forensics.
Mike has a master’s degree in forensic engineering from the Royal military college Shrivenham, and a honours degree in mechanical engineering. Mike lectures at several Universities and colleges and is an honorary senior research fellow at both Cranfield and Exeter University. Mike is currently registered for a professional doctorate in forensic science at OSU in the United States and is working towards his IAAI CFI certification.
Mike has worked on the forensic investigation of Grenfell Tower, German Wings Mass Homicide, Marine DVI recovery in the Persian Gulf, as well as undertaking five tours in support of military operations in Afghanistan in relation to IED exploitation and investigation.
A recognised SME in crime scene reconstruction and the recording of crime scenes undertaking the training of multiple law enforcement agencies worldwide. Mike volunteers for Geoscope services in the search for and retrieval of World War II MIA Military personnel as part of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA).
Prior to his forensic career; Mike served an apprenticeship obtaining advanced city and guilds in mechanical services. Subsequently a CORGI registered industrial and commercial heating engineer specialising in heating and potable water systems. Post Undergraduate degree worked for several of the UK’s leading construction companies as a project engineer in mechanical and electrical services.
