Employed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service (HIWFRS) for 7 years, Lauren has worked as a Fire Investigation Officer for the past 4 years. Lauren trained in Fire Investigation at Gardiner Associates Training & Research (GATR) completing a Level 2 Foundation Course and SFJ Level 5 Certificate in Fire Investigation. Lauren also holds a BSc Hons in Criminology & Forensic Studies from the University of Portsmouth and a Level 7 Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence from Legal Experience Training. She is also an associate member of the United Kingdom Association of Fire Investigators (UK-AFI) and Internation Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).
Lauren has investigated fires including domestic and commercial properties, fatalities, lightweight and commercial vehicles, and explosion incidents. She often works in conjunction with Hampshire Constabulary, and other Police forces, carrying out joint investigations for suspected arson and criminal incidents. As such, Lauren is an experienced expert witness, having prepared reports and given evidence at both Crown and Coroner’s courts.
In addition to carrying out fire investigations, Lauren is the lead for developing and delivering Fire Investigation training courses to operational personnel and external customers including Crime Scene Investigators, Loss Adjusters and Royal Military Police.
