Simon Millichap BSc, MSc, M.I.FireE, MIAAI, ACSFS.
Simon holds a Master’s Degree in Fire Investigation and a Batchelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences.
Simon is a Fire and Explosion Consultant with Minton, Treharne and Davies Group (MTD) and works from their Cardiff Office. MTD provides multi-disciplinary scientific and technical consultancy expertise to industry, specialising in the forensic investigation of incidents and claims.
Simon formerly worked for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service before joining MTD in 2012.
Simon has been involved in the investigation of numerous cargo/vessel and land based fire and explosion incidents. The work often involves overseas travel on behalf of Underwriters, Ship Owners, P&I Clubs and Charterers. The forensic investigations commonly involve large/complex/hazardous firescenes and incidents resulting in significant economic losses. The casework has involved many diverse products such as coal, charcoal, cars/machinery/heavy plant, beef burgers, grain, mineral ores, pharmaceuticals, animal feed, aluminium, wood, rapeseed and hazardous chemicals.
Simon has designed and conducted specific fire tests in order to validate ignition hypotheses, chemical/material properties, rates of fire development or demonstrate fire behaviour.
Simon has delivered presentations to the Fire Service and to the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
